Welcome to Steiner Ranch

Steiner Ranch is known as the land between the lakes with serene hill country and lake views throughout.

What to Expect

Drenched in Texas charm, Steiner Ranch is located in the northwest area of Austin and is only a 25 minute drive to downtown Austin. The ranch was originally owned by Buck Steiner, a rodeo cowboy and stuntman in Hollywood. He purchased 2700 acres in the ranch for $25 per acre! He made custom saddles and cowboy boots and sold them at Capitol Saddlery in downtown Austin and made quite a bundle doing it. It was a working cattle ranch up into the mid-80's. The family-owned Steiner Ranch Steakhouse, located at the top of the community, showcases a collection of historical photographs and displays of the family and the ranch. The restaurant is well known in the Austin area and has world class eats, views and music that can't be beat! After being acquired by the real estate developer Al Hughes, the ranch passed through a few hands. In the mid-1990s, the area around Lake Travis grew into a place where people made their homes rather than simply going out for a day on the lake. Taylor Woodrow acquired the development in 2000, and the increased demand for houses in the area created a new wave of construction which peaked in 2006 and gave birth to this master-planned community! Steiner Ranch has been recognized as one of the best neighborhoods in the state of Texas several times, and is part of the highly regarded Leander Independent School District, one of the top school districts in the area. Offering multiple pools, parks, an activity center, and hiking trails, the community is more like a resort than a neighborhood with its location along both Lake Austin and Lake Travis.

The Lifestyle

The neighborhood features a private Lake Club, the University of Texas Golf Club with a 7000 yard championship course, 10 neighborhood parks, 3 community pools, lighted tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, and multipurpose fields! Steiner Ranch is located between two of the most popular recreational lakes in the area, attracting outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy the great outdoors. Nature lovers are in awe of this master-planned community, which is home to 1,500 acres of wildlife habitats, parks and greenbelts with bike and hiking trails and lake access. This neighborhood has a lot of mature landscaping and trees, creating a vibrant and beautiful setting. Steiner Ranch has something for everyone, from first time home buyers to empty nesters.

Unexpected Appeal

Access to the Balcones Canyonland Preserves.

Balcones Canyonlands Preserve (BCP) is one of the nation's largest urban preserves. It protects more than 32,000 acres of habitat for endangered species. There are a variety of preserves that are owned and maintained by a variety of public and private partners, though the majority is owned by Travis County and the City of Austin. Steiner Ranch has several trails that run through the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve (J-Canyon, Powerline Hill, and Eastridge trails). Over 20 miles of trails offer breathtaking views of the Texas Hill Country, creeks, waterfalls, and more. Due to the variety of flora, fauna, and terrain in these parks, they're often compared to national parks, suitable for both novice and experienced hikers and cyclists.

The Market

The master-planned community was designed by Tyler Woodrow, who strategically planned a first class, resort-style community on 4600+ acres. Eighty percent of the homes in Steiner Ranch were built after 2000. Today, there are over 6000 homes divided into 50 different sections, each with its own unique features and benefits. There is a wide range of prices depending on the size, age and location of the home ranging from mid $500K to $11,500,000 million for lakefront properties.
